Digital Voice Recorder
|
Digital Voice Recorders (DVR's) on the market are changing all the time. In order for a DVR to be effective for Electronic Voice phenomenon (EVP) it will need to have the following attributes: Voice Activated Recording (VOR) Mode Which will allow the recorder to turn on and off the record by any sound or voice. Many researcher like this feature because it will save the listener time in reviewing. Other reseachers don't use it becuase it might miss some important sounds and placing the time to the sound can be more difficult. A good recorder should give you the option of using VOR or not.High and Low Recording Quality Settings Some researcher believe that operating at low quality rates can produce more Electronic Voice Phenomenon (EVP's) sounds than at higher quality rates. The point of this is that low quality recordings have more internal noise and therefore may help the spirits generate more EVP. On the other hand higher quality recording may help produce a very good quality EVP which may not be obscured by background noises.Adjustable Microphone Sensitivity Recording in places with numerous people talking or with traffic noise can be more difficult to capture a EVP , because of the over powering background sounds. At these times you need to decrease the sensitivity of the microphone. Increasing the sensitivity of the microphone can help at other times when the recorder needs a more sufficient sound for voice formation because the room may be quiet.Hold or Lock Feature Using this feature will save you many inadvertent recordings.Interface to a Computer Some recorders have a USB port for transferring audio files to a computer. |
